Liz Solo

02nd of August, 2009 LIZ SOLO @ SHIP PUB (265 Duckworth Street). Liz has been playing music for years and years on the East Coast scene and all around the circle. Currently she plays with Lizband, The Black Bags and she and her partner in crime, Mike Kean, are also the rhythm section for the notorious Newfoundland punk band Giver. Liz's past bands include Live Girlz, Red Scare and Little Horse and the Terror Birds.Liz also writes and performs solo and this year has been working on a solo record, her very first. The material has been steeping for years, some of it written when she was just a kitten, some of it brand new. The ultimate new solo release will be a collage of archival, live and new recordings that explore themes like time traveling, aliens, otherness, nature, redemption, womanity. More organic, acoustic and layered than her rock releases Liz is working with collaborator/composer Mike Kean on the arrangements and instrumentation and taking lots of time with the process.Liz lives and works in St. John's, Newfoundland. She is also an inter-disciplinary performance artist with a long list of credits. See Liz Solo dot com. She is a co-founder of Rock Can Roll Records, the Independent Artists Cooperative. Collaborating with Cherie Pyne and Rhiannon Thomas Liz is also proud to be a co-creator of the skills-sharing workshop series Rock School for Girls.
